I am looking for some of these for a TSS Turkey load.
They've been out of stock for a good while.
Please let me know if you have any available.

Floppintom, have you tried the BP-CSD or (same) PR-TUWSBL1627 wads?

Note* I only use them for steel loads so not sure how they compare with other types of shot....

Comparing the 2 side-b-side, the main noticeable difference is the 1627' powder cup (actual mic'ed in hand 0.650-0.655" OD) is a small bit shorter and more rigid than the 1680. More or less impossible to flare if using small grain powder. The 1627 fits ok in Ched/Fed style hulls and just about perfectly in an RGL. Comparing PR's 1627 data next to spreadsheet VP1680 data for steel, on paper, they're very similar. Field I use Asteel powder and see no real performance difference in patterning or hunting. I haven't tried the 1627 with Bis yet.

Published data via PR's site..... https://www.precisionreloading.com/docs/uploads/TUWSBL1627%20Load%20Data%20-%20Website.pdf

Thank you for sharing your research, you definitely answered all my questions. I appreciate you taking the time. If the vp80 does not come in stock soon I'll order a couple bags of the csd wads.

I am still looking for some wads. I think I have found someone to help me acquire some.
In the meantime I’ve sent several loads away to Precision’s lab for testing using identical loads with the VP80/PT1680 and with the newer CSD16 side by side. I will have data on at least five loads where only the wad is different coming shortly. This should let us know if they will be close to interchangeable.

You're welcome, glad it helped.

Floppintom, it will be interesting to see the difference. Curious; did you use VP/1680 data and sub in the CSD/1627 OR vice versa?

I have VP1680 data most for turkey and waterfowl loads, I have some duplex Steel x TSS all were put together before the CSD16 came along. I’ll share my findings. I just hope they come in very close. I’d hate to start testing loads again.

The test results are back for my TSS turkey loads with the wad change. Identical loads with only the wad swapped were close in velocity and pressure.

1-3/4oz TSS#9
VP80 PT1680 = 1111fps, 7567 psi
CSD16 = 1084fps, 8637 psi

1-9/16oz TSS#9
VP80 PT1680 = 1082fps 10190psi
CSD16 = 1059fps 8687psi

VP80s have always patterned well and wads handle the TSS without penetrating the petals.
I will be shooting the loads with CSD16 wads once it warms up a little for pattern and to see how the wads hold up to the TSS. Hopefully their pattern performance is as close as the velocities and pressures.

Thanks for the info. Interesting mild pressure. Curious to see how the patterns look. Is there a hole in the pattern from the wad?

Thanks
B.
