I received lots of the green hulls from BP w/ a purchase of a 8567.
The head stamp has the 4 "stars" and 4 "16's".
What primer is in these hulls? Not Fiocchi's I hope!
Are they oversized?
I am tired of using the Primer Pocket Peener.
I haven't reloaded any yet.
Thanks! |

Jim, these are cheddite hulls and you can use win. 209 or the cheddite 209 primer. Decent price through Grafs and sons but always paying the haz. shipping fee #*@!
These hulls load real well and you should be happy with them.
Good luck

Maybe I was unclear. I want to know what is in there from the factory, and are they larger like the Fiocchi Primers.
I do not want to be using a Primer Pocket Peener anymore. I have had to use this device on those blue Fiocchi 67's and some mystery 20 ga. that now I know are also Fiocchi's. This is not fun. If they are larger I just may sell them.
I pretty much only stock W209 primers.
I only buy components through my club from a wholesaler.
The prices cannot be beat this way. No shipping or hazmat either.
Thanks again! |

If the hulls have the stars on the bottom, they are Cheddite hulls, and more than likely have Cheddite primers. |

Jim:
I’ve used plenty of the primed green hulls from BP. I believe be both the hull and primers are Cheddite. At any rate, I’ve loaded them, shot them and then happily reloaded them win Win 209’s. No modifications to the primer hole needed.
BP’s 16 Gauge Manual lists many loads with Cheddite hulls and Win 209 primers. BP typically sends along a couple of pages of recipes with the hulls the send out. The can also e-mail you pdf’s of the recipes if didn’t get them with your purchase. At least they have for me. You might try giving them a call if you didn’t receive them.
I too hate the Primer Pocket Peener! But I like the Fiocchi hulls. We are lucky to have a fellow with an FFL and a huge SUV full of reloading supplies, and good prices, that visits some of the local shooting spots on a weekly basis. I bought 5,000 Fiocchi primers from him and chucked the peener! |

I also have reloaded a couple thousand of the factory primed Green Cheddite hulls - the Cheddite 209 primers fit fine.
I wonder why they don't tell you which model of primer is in there when you buy the hulls? The paint/seal on the primer that comes in the hull matches neither the Cheddite 209M paint/seal or the Cheddite 209.

Thanks!! As long as W209s don't fall out, I am good.
I joined the reloading group and I have lots of data.

Any primer you want, so long as the recipe calls for it. Those are cheddite hulls. |

I have loaded a bunch of these hulls they are cheditte primers and they are oversized.Punch out one of the primers and push in a win 209. I think you will find it is not very snug. It will push in very easy and out very easy. I'm not sure how tight they should be.I only use loads in them that call for cheddite or fio 616 primers. |

I normally load W209 in one and twice fired cheddite hulls without issue. Fiocchi hulls, on the other hand, have given me some problems with properly seating W209s, but not Cheddite hulls. |
