anyone know anything about them? going to look at it sunday, What I know is it has a bone trigger guard, fully engraved receiver, raised cheek piece, all the screws are horizonel and not buggered. looks like very little finish is on the barrels, marked nitro for modern powder and short chambers

Go to http://www.germanhuntingguns.com/archives/kerner-e/
Also read about proof marks on same site.
Kerner had some of his own designs like the single overhead sear I believe.

Here is his 1930 catalog, this may help if you can find your gun in it. If it’s in good shape buy it cuz a modern gun made like a medium to high end Kerner would probably start at 8k today.

Good hunting!

I enjoy the pre war German guns, terrific quality, I’m up to 7 now

Please do post pics, also barrel and action flats can tell dates and who actually made the gun, Kerner may of just retailed which is almost always the case for these guns.

Sear arrangement looks an awful lot like Lefever's.

I buy solid guns for 6-800 and then have them restored 1-2k. Sell what I can’t shoot well and do over again, I haven’t been able to stop though, it’s a disease.

KGB you talking about this type?

I only have one of these but it is for sale on GB

were you familiar with those makers before you bought or did you look for quality and take a chance they were a good buy?

Not really other than the Lindner. I judge each gun on its own merit, but it helps to read and ask questions. Lots of German gun info on the sight I gave you and doublegunshop bbs under German guns. Several German gun authors chime in to help people like us.

Don’t forget Belgium guns, they can be great deals also.
Some of the German guns were sourced from Belgium and merely finished in Germany.

These are Belgium sourced Record brand (scholberg Bittiner made) guns sold by German gun makers. Serial number 10 digits apart but 2 different German makers names on the ribs. One Clever other Kormes. Pre 1935 stuff is all over the place same with barrel steel.
