Hey there fellow 16 gaugers -
Just wanted to post a link to a pretty nice looking Ithaca/Lefever Nitro Special on Gun Broker. I have seen where alot of guys have mentioned wanting them, so I thought I would pass this along

Will that gun handle modern loads or would low pressure loads be a better choice given the age? |

I have always understood that the Ithaca Nitro Specials were able to digest modern loads, hence the name "Nitro" Special. I believe they started making these just as the modern shells were introduced in the 1920's, although I don't have any reference books (like a BlueBook or a few others that are at home) at hand to be sure.
However, as with the case with this knowledgable group, I am sure if I am wrong someone will better information will gently correct me.
Hope that helps.

That's a nice Nitro Brad-and a bit cleaner than the one in the Glendale Cabela's. Strong case colors and good wood. 1923 gun with 2 3/4" chambers means they were lengthened at some point. No mention of the chokes which probably started M/F.
And I agree that the Nitros were strong utility grade guns and would be comfortable shooting about any 16g load up to 1 1/8 oz but this gun still has 80 year old wood and I'd probably have the stock reinforced at the time of the check and clean by a good doublegun smith. I've seen several with cracks at the end of the top tang.
Might make a sweet bad weather pheasant whacker |

Oh my God, ed1 is the high bidder! I don't even like Nitro's, but somebody please save this gun!!!! Even a Nitro doesn't deserve that!!! |

how much cross bidding do you think the regular dealers do over there?
I've heard do of e-bay "scams" where friends will "bid" to boost final selling price on auctions...rig it so to speak
think it happens much or more often than not? |

If Ed's bidding that much on a Nitro, you can bet somethings going on. Heck, it even has case colors not applied by the MASTER GUNSMITHS torch. |

I'm sure Ed Landers can improve it, though! |
