DO NOT ask how many shells I shot, but towards the last
half of the limit I was shooting well

Our dove season opened yesterday. The DNR land near me is getting a lot of pressure today, and there are about a dozen doves on the roof of my house right now.
I've become a dove sanctuary LOL! |

I seat the wad and then lift the shot drop tube up to just the bottom of the wad fingers and move the bar slowly to drop the shot

I was driving though public land to ted some hay, and a couple of guys had a bunch of dove decoys out, and battery powered spinny things and such. They had to move everything off the right of way for me to get though.
Never did hear much shooting, and there were around 8 on the powerlines by the road and probably a dozen on the roof of my house. I guess I'm a dove sanctuary now hahaha |

| Shot limits first two days, with Rizzini BR 550. One day with 20 ga barrels and one day with 16 ga barrels. I used my reloads, 7.5 shot. [/u] |

I see a lot of dove where I work my dog and that area is open to hunting. With that said when I see hunters they all tell me they didn’t do well. I was out there this morning and I never heard a shot. It is a heavily used training area of about 6,000 acres and much of the area is multi-use. They plant pheasant there in the fall/winter and I hunt there three or four days a week. It is more a way to keep the dog in shape than much of a hunting experience. If you get there early enough and don’t mind waiting in line (which I hate) you can have some luck on pheasant.

Good to hear you gents are getting out. No dove seasons here in VT or NY where my camp is,but early goose is on. Took my cousins husband out the f irst day and he had a blast,we got 9 should of had a lot more but that was enough to clean. He told me later he did not think he got one! I told him he got them all. He cant wait to go again.
Went out with some friends that are lab men one had a new one about a year old very well trained but his first hunt. Dog did great first retrieves on actual hunted birds,wish I could post the videos. All the best hope you all have a great season. Joe |

Went with a friend and his friend on the opener, just like the 3 of us have done most every opener since I moved to Missouri in 2003. I shot my limit, my buddy was a few short, and his 75 year old buddy wasn’t in a hot flight path and got a handful.
It’s as much about 2 hours of BSing waiting on the sun to come up as it is about dove hunting. Public conservation area requires you to get there early, and we didn’t even get on the burned off wheat field, we had to pick holes in tree lines 200 yards away and hope they would fly through. My hole was great.
I thought this would be a good backdrop, but they blend right into the grille…
