Anybody using any powder from Vihtavouri in the 16 or any other gauge? I can get these powders, but not my traditional products from Hodgdon and Alliant, and it seems some types of Vihtavouri powders might work for a variety of applications and gauges. However, Vihtavouri publishes no data for shotshells except for a few 3-inch 12 gauge loads.

572 & WSF have been easily avail at Powder Valley and Mid South for a while now . Been using WSF for a while now and LIKEY ! WSF is the 20ga AA replacement and 572 should be the 28ga go to , so both should work fine .

Good for you, 16gaDavis, but the subject was Vihtavouri.

The Gualandi data is good information and a great starting point for European powders.
I get a feeling that some of those powders will start finding there way into the states as the Euromcompanies find it easier to ship to the USA rather than England since brexit.

With Euro powders tables there is never a wad listed but the wad is just about height as all data is for parallel tube cases rather than Compression formed so any of the wads imported from B&P and Gualandi will work well with Cheddite/Fiocchi cases etc.

I would consider this.
I would send them out for testing, but it looks promising.

I sort of wish I needed powder.

jim18611865,

Why would you send it for testing? It's data from Gualandi.

I have seen that data before, and while I agree it will be less than 11.5k psi, it doesn’t specifically state the pressure nor the speed. It’s worth perusing to understand what other options we have, but for someone with a vintage double it may not readily appear as an option without testing, which means plunking some money down on a hunch and hoping it meets your desired parameters.

Personally I will eventually be experimenting with this data, but right now I have some good options that meet my desired specs without having to go through the hassle of testing.

Bottom line, there’s not enough info to choose this option over others. If I am missing something please let me know.

The MP-215 says it is similar to Vectan D20, not exact. There is D20 data for 12, 16 and 20.
I would send one set out for testing to verify. At that price it is worth peace of mind to me. It is $26.40 a lb. if you buy 32 lbs. Shipping and hazmat included.
