1st time poster here. I thought I'd share with you all about passing down the love of good ole 16g guns. My dad has been squirrel hunting with his 1965 Wingmaster 16 since purchasing it in 68. I have a 1960 wingmaster 16 I have used for squirrel & turkey as well. A couple of years or so ago when I decided my son was ready to start shotgunning I thought about which gun he should use. We had previously shot a NEF 410 a few times & I have a Wincherster 370 youth 20g that was the first shotgun I ever shot. That particular 20g gun seems to pattern ok but has a pretty good little kick. I had another old Winchester 370 in a 16g so I decided to swap out the stocks. Now I had a Winchester 370 16g youth addition. I know the cheap ole made in Canada gun doesnt compare to a model 37 but it works fine! The rubber recoil pad had gotten hard so I fitted a Limbsaver to it. The gun has a 30in full choke barrel but the balance with the shorter stock is still decent. I patterned the gun & it shot 1 to 1-1/8oz 7.5 lead very well. My son now 11yrs has killed quite a few squirrels with this gun. Last year for the first time we went turkey hunting and bam killed a nice Gobbler 1st time out at just over 40yds!. The next time out he got another one, (35yds) so he is 2 for 2 so far with the ole 16g. Up next maybe he can use it on deer or coyote. Any how I thought some of you fellow 16g lovers would enjoy this![/b]

Welcome to the 16ga Forum first of all! So glad to see another young hunter killing his first game animals with a 16 as many of us have done. Especially the turkeys, I have not shot one with a 16 yet I might try to fix that this spring Keep us posted with more chapters of his hunts with our favorite gauge.
