Saw some Win SHC powder at a local shop yesterday. Wondering if anyone has ever used it for 7/8 oz. loads in their 16's.
The burn rate is in between Green Dot and International Clays so it should work but haven't been able to find any 16 ga data anywhere. Hodgdon has lots of 12 & 20 gauge data. |

I tried it in 65 mm hulls and it's so dense it didn't stack well. At least in straightwall hulls with SG16 or Z16.
Perhaps in tapered hulls with a 7/8th wad IDK, but I wonder if you're looking at building a custom wad column. For me the juice isn't worth the squeeze if you have to do that.
I wish it did work bc I like it for certain 12ga upland loads. |

Was wanting to use it in Rem or Win CF cases with the Claybuster 7/8 oz wad.
Have always used Green Dot but am almost out so need to find something else until some GD becomes available. Hate to spend a summer shooting all those "other" gauges . |

I wonder if SHC would work for a 3/4 oz load with the SG wad?
Sounds like it is bulkier than GD…which I load in a 2 1/2” , 3/4 oz with SG wad. If I use that load in a 2 3/4” hull it dishes the crimp. |
