Guys,
Just had to tell everyone about this one. While in a gunsmith's shop the other day, I noticed 2 Model 12's sitting side by side; a 20 and a 16. They were both field grade plain barrel guns. The 20 was priced rediculously high while the 16 was priced very low. I offered him another gun (which I never used) in trade and he took it. The barrel is about 90% and the receiver is about 85%. The wood is very dark w/ no figure showing and is 26" modified.
According to the Madis book it was made in 1942. I already have another one almost exactly like it, but aren't we entitled to posess more than one Model 12 16 gauge at the same time?

You bet, XVI---the modified choke should make a fine pheasant gun and it will be good for ducks too if you can find the Bismuth load of 4'5 or 6's to use in it. Congratulations on your latest acquisition.
