Does anyone have a 7/8oz. load for the Remington hull using 20/28 powder and the Claybuster 7/8oz wad with a velocity of ~1200 fps?
Going to run out of Green Dot soon but have 8# of 20/28.
Thanks. |

I used to load around 15.5 gr 20/28 in the RGL with 7/8 oz, but used the DR 16 wad. It was a nice shooting load |

From the spreadsheets originally posted on this forum by Sorentino...
RP SP 16 Plastic 7/8 oz. 20/28 15.5 Ched 209 DR 16 1119 6,160
RP SP 16 Plastic 7/8 oz. 20/28 15.5 Rem 209STS DR 16 1124 6,140
RP SP 16 Plastic 7/8 oz. 20/28 15.5 Win 209 DR 16 1105 5,760
If I were in your shoes looking for 1200 I'd ratchet the powder up a little and send for testing. The CB's are not that much different than the DR's and with that much PSI headroom to play in you should be able to get close to or on that 1200.
Best of luck with it..... |

I'd suggest sending that load to Tom Armbrust for testing. Here's one I sent him in the RGL hull, Win 209 primer, 7/8 oz, Win WAA16 wad, 15.8 Gr Unique: 1214/8666psi.
I've since substituted the CB 7/8 oz wad for the Win, and the Ched primer for the Win.
Since Unique and 20/28 supposedly meter the same, there should be plenty of room for a similar amount of 20/28 in that load. Will be interesting to see the difference in ballistics between Unique and 20/28. |
