Looking for some updates on the reliability of the Tristar G2 Viper 16ga to eject the Herters Chedite hulls.
Thanks in advance

I broke mine in with 100 rounds of 1 1/8 oz. @1290 fps. Would not reliably eject factory Herters or Federals after that so loaded up several hundred Herters hulls 1 oz. at 1250 fps. Ran 400-500 of them through it without issue. Now it ejects pretty much anything factory that I feed it. Including some old Herters factory shells that I still have.

I use Herters hulls in my SA guns because they are thin compared to factory Cheddite hulls and I don't get as many reloads out of them. So I don't cry when they hit the ground.

Tristar recommends ~500 rounds through the G2 in any gauge for reliable ejection. Stout shells help in getting there. Never had any issues with Cheddite hulls ejecting or any other hulls for that matter in my 16 ga. Bronze G2. It is more reliable than my Sweet 16 with lighter loads. And less recoil.

Besides myself I know of one other person that was missing the O Ring. On mine I think it was caused by a burr on the gas port that shredded it so removed the burr. Still need to call and have Tristar send me a replacement O Ring but even without it to seal the gas it still eats everything I give it at this point. If your having ejection problems I'd check the O Ring.

Do these shotguns come with an adjustable stock? As in shim kits to change drop and cast?

Once broken in, will they handle 7/8 oz. loads? I assume they handle heavy loads just fine.

Will they handle steel shot?

Yes on all questions.

Thanks for your input I'm sitting on approximately 6500 once fired herters hulls and am looking for some positive feedback that the tristar G2 will spit them out.

Use a MEC super sizer to size the hulls

Been running them through a grabber with the collet sizer adjusted tight. Wondering if it's more the thin edge on the hull rim vs brass expanding? Reviews are more positive than negative.

The second half of the equation, I'm left handed Tristar offers one LH 12ga. Just called Tristar and asked about a LH trigger group or reversible safety. Nope Nope. My A5, 1100 reverse the button. Don't know why this is such a monumental task. There are plenty of lefties out there. Talked to the gun rep for Remarms who states in the second quarter of 2024 they are supposedly retooling for a run of 20ga LH 1100. Who knows won't hold my breath. The LH curse.

A crazy thing I learned about RIO, Herter's, etc. in my 1100. I know this sounds dumb but, if I run the gun dry sometimes the hull will only partly eject. If I run the 1100 wet, using CLP or RemOil, the shells eject flawlessly.

Remington RGL's, Federal's, Winchester CF or Winchester/Cheddite's or the green body Cheddite's eject fine regardless if I run the gun wet or dry. I really don't like running the gun wet when I am hunting.

My Sizemaster and 9000G resize to 0.739". Max cartridge is 0.744".

Griffon, if the tristar you are looking at has a triangle safety, it is very likely reversible for left hand operation. It doesn't say it in the manual, but if you drop the trigger group and pull the crossblock safety, you should be able to clearly see how it can be rotated to operate for a lefty.
