Good evening all,
I would like to load up some fibre loads with traditional Nitro card, fibre wad, overshot card and a 6 point crimp. I have components aplenty but data for 16ga fibre traditional loads is few and far between even on the LPG data sheets.
I have a good mix of powders - Herco, Greendot, Bluedot, Longshot, WSF, WST, Titewad and Titegroup as well as European powders.
Over the years (12ga) I have always added up to 10% powder for a traditional load as compared to a plastic recipe which has lways worked well for me but not done too much on 16ga with fibres.
Anyone loading these regularly?
Regards
Graham

I use the same data as provided for plastic wad loads. I use them mostly on pen raised quail, so no need to maximize anything. Also no complaints with casual clays.

Green dot would be my first choice of the ones you listed. I use the generic ‘use at your own risk “ loads from the spreadsheets. They are mild loads with fiber wad stacks.

The older data has always been, increase the powder amount by one grain when using card and fiber over the data for a plastic wad. I have never seen that statement ever produce a bad load.

I've some recipes from Shooting Times...

Longshot, Win572, Chedite hull/primer with fibre wads.

I've loaded both powders and patterned with good results.

The old card wad formulas were short on specifics. They did not specify hull or primer. They generally gave powder type, powder charge, and shot charge. for wad they just said nitro over powder wad and whatever fiber wad stack it takes to get a good crimp. They also tended to specify a wad seating pressure. They also gave a dram equivelent/velocity.

Speer reloading manual #7 has loads listed for a couple of the powders you mentioned.
Green Dot: 18.0 grains of powder, 50 Lb seating pressure, 1 ounce lead shot, 2 1/2 dram equivelant/1165 FPS
A word of caution, there has been some talk around here lately that Green Dot is producing higher pressures than it used to.

Herco, 26.0 grains of powder, 100 Lb seating pressure1 1/8 ounce lead shot, 3 1/4 dram equivelant,1295 FPS.
