I’ve narrowed this season’s wish list to be submitted to Mrs. Claus and her elves down to a to single item: A replacement for my old worn out (and now noticeably ill fitting) shooting sports (skeet, trap, SC) vest. Robust recoil remediation is a primary priority. Club members speak highly of Browning and Beretta vests.

Any recommendations to offer here?

TIA
B.

I got away from vests. Been using a belt style and then a short or long sleeve shirt with a pocket for various pads for various guns stock lengths. The belt system is by Browning.

I agree with Carl.

Browning three pouch belted.

Just as a note, most of the beretta vests are athletic fit.

I have a Wild Hare vest, it’s ok and is a mid build fit. Wish it had a back hopper pocket for empties, maybe other ones they sell do. Sometimes I do wish to keep hulls.

I’ve had a browning waist vest for years, and still use it sometimes. Also works well in the dove field.

CASTELLANI Vests are one I’d consider if I were to upgrade.

Similar situation earlier this year I ordered a Browning did not like it . Looked at the Orvis one on line liked it drove to Orvis and bought one. Very happy with it. You can put a gel pad in the shoulder pocket.

Not nearly as prestigious of course, but hard to beat good ol' Cabela's. Large front pockets, mesh rear pocket for empties, removeable pads for either shoulder. Lots easier on the budget too. No choke tube pockets, but then all my guns have fixed chokes anyway Very Happy . Looks like their current offering is a little different though.

If they still made the Cabelas one like the one I had with no mesh I would have bought that one instead.

I saw the comment about the fixed chokes. I shoot only the “classic” doubles , I haven’t seen one with anything but unless it’s been butchered. I do however usually have a selection if doubles in my cart.with various chokes. Rather like a golf bag. You some times need a choice when shooting clays. Hunting I usually go for cyl / IC for grouse and woodcock, IC / LM for pheasant. Glad to see I’m not alone. Thanks

I had a Castellani vest, I really liked the fit, but I wore out the leather recoil patch in 3 years or so.

I had a 10X, it wore very well and I had it for years but they stopped making them.

I had a Bob Allen and liked that one the best and again I had it for years but they aren't making that style any longer.

I looked at the Wild Hare vests but they are kinda bulky at least to me.

I decided to forget the vest and went to just an ammo pouch.
