Gentlemen,
While these Crescent guns were not high money guns, they have been proven over many years to be decent quality field guns that many sportsman have owned, down thru the years. Unfortunately many of the guns were abused thru many years of upland hunting. However if the gun is in good shape, like the ones we own and use especially in real bad weather, they are real nice guns to upland hunt with.
Use the right RST shells and the gun preforms just great. The trick is to purchase one of these old Crescent guns, in very good to pristine condition! I recommend them over the entry level modern Turkish made guns for sure.

all the best,

Our Antique 16 gauge Crescent Gammer Gun has been used for Grouse & Woodcock hunting for many years and has never had a problem. Same with our 12 Gauge Hammerless

Crescent was certainly capable of producing quality guns; like this one

The vast majority of tradename guns were however manufactured to a low price point for hardware and sporting goods firms. A friend was enthusiastic about his Crescent hammer gun until he found that the fellas in Norwich had managed to bore the chambers but 'forgot' to bore and finished the tubes; which were .710" and ROUGH. Sad

Folks,

I really appreciate all of the input and the new information. I'll be having it inspected for all of the suggestions before I shoot it.

I may even have that bright receiver case colored so it's closer to original, but not until I'm sure it can be used.

Thanks again and I'll update as it proceeds through inspection.
