For longer than I can remember my “go to” load for my 16ga SxS’s, average age well over 100, has been a 3/4 oz recipe using International for 1150 and 6200. Since no one knows when International may become available again I’ve started to look around for an alternative. I’m going to save the International that I have to use in my pattern welded guns and look for a similar load that I can use in my fluid steel barrels. They are about evenly divided between 2 1/2” and 2 3/4” chambers so ideally I’d like to find a 2 1/2” load that I can use in all of them.

The base to work from is Cheddite hulls and Ched 209 primers.

I have DR16’s and CB 7/8 and 1 oz wads (that I pre-flare).
Plus some SG16S wads. (I also see that SG16’s are available so could get them)

Powder on hand is some Longshot (which I see is available) and some 800X and Universal (which are not). Ideally, I’d like to use something that is available and I’m open to other powders that I don’t currently have.

Speed - under 1175.
Pressures - under 7500.

I’ve gone through our low pressure group spread sheets and have only found one 3/4 oz load within my parameters and it’s a Longshot load.

I’d welcome recommendations from you.

Do you have or can you get any Green Dot? If you do a search (top left under the 16ga logo masthead) on this forum for GD you'll find a bunch of info on what you're looking for. Seems to me ~15gr of newer GD will get you where want to be.

Thanks, putz. In a roundabout way a new member who had a glitch in his registration and couldn’t respond here (I was able to help him get the problem straightened out) tracked me down over at doublegun and gave me a link to a discussion of these GD loads that fn16ga had worked up and had tested. I corresponded earlier in the week with fn about them and I’m particularly interested in the middle one ie 1177 and 7400. I don’t have any GD so I’m going to look around online this morning and see if any is available.

I have one 3/4oz Longshot load that I used years ago that I can fall back on and the new member (playin’ hookey) gave me a good 1oz LS load that I’m going to try.

Since PR has free hazmat through tomorrow I think I’m going to order some LS today to have more to work with.

Got the LS but Green Dot?? How come every supplier I know and have ordered from is out of stock but places that I’ve never heard of have plenty in all sizes?

Randy, wasn't sure if your last post was tongue-in-cheek but if not, beware those vendors with plenty of every kind of powder as they are almost certainly scammers. I got burned by one a couple of years ago. Typical features include plenty of scarce stuff in stock, $200 (or so) minimum purchase, and don't take credit cards (just take stuff like Zelle, Vendmo, etc) so that you can't get your money back.
I just bought some powder from Precision today to get that free hazmat.
