I have a reasonable amount of Remington RGL hulls that have been sitting around for quite a while. It's gotta be 10 years since I received these Remington R16 wads, from someone here, but I don't remember who it was. I have a small stash of Winchester 209's. Add to that a bag of #7 1/2 West Coast shot.......and then drum roll......SR7625. A local gentleman offered it and I didn't hesitate. There is a date written on the can of March '06 and it was sealed when I picked it up.
I was going to keep all the SR7625 for 1 oz. dove loads, but I couldn't help myself and opened the can.
Remington RGL
Winchester 209
21.0 Grains SR7625
R16 wad
1 oz. of West Coast magnum 7 1/2's
The load fits perfectly. No powder migration. No dealing with dense powders that need a filler to get a nice flat crimp. NO BS, it just works. I have never used R16 wads before and now I know why a lot of folks want them.
The picture doesn't do the loads justice but here it is.
The Chilly Willy 5 Stand League starts this Sunday in Bismarck.....I got my ammo. I'll be out of the R16's well before the League ends, but I have a decent amount of WAA16 wads to sub. |

| Ive never had any R16s. Do you see any difference in loading or shooting with the Claybuster wads? |

fn6ga, when I get a chance I will chronograph the loads. Thinking 1,250 FPS give or take.
Savage 16, I didn't touch the settings on my 9000G. However, the R16 is a bit shorter than the CB0100-16, but the CB wad is a bit softer and crushes more. I switched back and forth between the two and the crimps looked the same. |
