Two weeks before MI deer season, and my partner want to fire slugs thru his Dad's 16ga Remington "Sportsman".

It the complete "CC" with theexpansion tube with the slots @ 180 degrees orientation.

Are these units rated for slug shooting, any recommemded choke to use?

Spreader, IC & Full.

Thanks for responses.

I’d remove as much of the apparatus as possible. Any contact between the slug and the chokes could cause the slug to tumble.

Are you shooting slugs through a 16 ga. or a 12? If you use a true Cutts Comp 12 gauge spreader tube, it will pass any slug without contact. As something of an amateur Cutts nut (come and compete for the Cutts Comp Cup in skeet at the little vintage shoot in August every year at Minneapolis Gun Club), I notice a 20 gauge shell, which has a rim diameter just over 3/4 inch will pass right through my 12 gauge Cutts spreader chokes. If you don't have an "official" spreader tube for the 12, or are using a 16 or any other gauge, just remove the choke tube and let 'er rip!

Cheers!
Tony

Max , not being a machinist etc , I'd only go by this : My 16 and 20ga spreaders shoot a nice , tight mod pattern . If I could measure the tube and it was similar to IC, CYL , I'd be good to go . But I'd use caution till I knew that ! The good news is that slugs don't open up in the tube like shot does , so I'd just make sure the choke was about inside barrel diam .
