| I was fortunate to have won the bid on this gun in August 2025. They listed it as a safe queen, but I wanted to shoot trap with it. It was built on a 20 gauge frame. The length of pull was too much for me, and I had the stock cut down and a thick soft recoil pad installed for a 14.25 inch final length. All my guns are 14.25. Now I can shoot it well enough to win against the 12 gauge guys. The other day I loaded up 5/8 ounce at ~1600fps and it does break targets at the 25 yard line. I did have some reservation on altering such an unusual gun, but it is no good if it does not fit correctly to shoot. I like to gently rub the 12 gauge guys when I can beat them. It is a really lovely gun! Never would have got it without the 16 gauge forum listing it. Thank you |

I started shooting my 525 32" several years ago on trap games. Friday nights, some Sundays afternoons, Wednesday evenings. All games , protection, protection partners, sueques, piece protections. Usually start at 16 yrd for a shoot or two
But usually ends up back at the 25-27yrd most of the nights. Shootoffs usually 10 to 15 yards behind the 27 yr line. I shoot 1oz reloads crono. average 1248 fps. Just about every game I'm in shootoffs. Most nights I can break even or a little change to take home. Some places I shoot only allow 13 guys on the line. Some places allow all that sign up for the round. Many time there are several dollars on the line to split with your partner. I have never felt out gunned at all. But I as you I love it when people that don't know me when I beat them. Usually someone tells them that that guy shoots a 16ga. They give me the strangest looks. Many time like to see the gun. I do shoot extended chokes but found I do best with Improved mod instead of full choke. Guys that have known me for years get on me once on a while. Vicea versa also. But one thing I truly believe that the 16 holds a much better patern than a 12. Just my thoughts. The gun I have I've never altered anything on it. Still shoot it as out of the box. Same everything except extender chokes. Good shooting Hammer Bill |
