I agree twopipe and it would be easy to add a pad to make up for the cut stock. Anyone interested might find out the serial # for year of production-Ithaca went to 2 3/4" chambers in the 30's. Likely originally choked M/F and the brls would be marked 2 & 4. I'd also specifically ask about cracks at the end of the top tang-have seen alot of Nitros with some 'compression cracks' of the wood there (which probably doesn't amount to anything) |

I had my eye on that shotgun. I have one just like it except mine has a single trigger (not selective). Right now it's at a gunsmith in Michigan getting restored.
I know, that's a lot of money to spend on a $400 gun but my dad gave it to me in 1955 when I was 12 years old. Now I can give it to my grandson when I am through with it in another dozen years.

There's a thread on doublegunshop.com about Bass Pro's gun list containing several Nitros in the $3000+ range ! |

It seems that Cabela's, Bass Pro Shop and others have a reputation for overcharging for used weapons they sell and under charging for used weapons they take in on trade.
Just an observation from other fora.
