have a 16ga sxs i believe to be french.name stamped on barrels is"acier comprime" does anyone have any info abouta it?

That stamp means nothing more than "compressed steel." My French shotgun is marked in French "Nickel Steel" and "Special Steel." Is there a maker's name on the butt plate? Photos will help. There are few folks here on this forum that are real French shotgun fans. I have just the one and I really like it. My daughter and I just finished shooting a round of trap each with the little shotgun and she shot her best score ever with it. The French guns are often well made and light.

If you remove the barrels an look on the flats you should see a lot of information; proof marks, chamber length, barrel steel, chokes, and usually the manufactures name which is usually manufacture bla bla. There were 5 or 6 major makers in France and hundreds of small makers. Photos of the barrel bottom, action flats, sides, bottom and top, plus the marking on top of thye barrels will help identification. if you cannot post the pics email them to me and I will see if I can help you.
