| Another Browing a5 followed me home. I ran like the wind but....Standard A5 5 digit serial number-63590 letter A under --short chambered--28" plain barrel full--top of barrel marked "Browning Arms Company Ogden Utah"--metal is pretty clean-- Blue Wonder and Balistol have it looking decent--do believe it has newer wood on it-- wood is very nice, some dents and dings--butt plate Automatic Browning FN--recutting checkering for now. Happy to provide 16gauge rescue once again... |

A 28" Standard Sixteen is a joy to shoot. You'll love it......except for maintaing a supply of short shells to feed it!
The 2 1/2" RST's are great and the hulls reload well.

One of my hunting partners received a Browning 16 gauge A-5 for his 16th birthday. Its a plain barrel 2-3/4" with modified choke.
He now collects social security and it has been his only shotgun all these years. I refinished the stock for him, and added a new recoil pad. But haven't been able to talk him into the reblue it really deserves.
Anyhow, i watched him kill several limits of pheasants with it this past fall.
They do last forever. |

I like the look of well maintained wood, but a reblue leaves me cold. I love the patina, the soft tones, colors and wear patterns....they say a lot about how the gun was used.....dawns in the marsh, sunsets in the fields etc.
Refinshed wood has character, without the patina of use metal does not.

| OMG---rocking photos, straight grip stocks make me smile--will be posting photos as i get competant with the digital. Hear you Jeff on the metal and wood refinish I also buy into that school of thought. |
