Rule Number 1: Stay away from Ed Good's stuff. He is often refered to as "Ed the Tourch" and has jacked up more good guns than most of us has seen. |

yeah, I know that one still, this gun intrigues me...
I'm also trying to get a better eye for ... issues - part of a learning curve without all the expenses if you know what I mean. |

She looks good to me, the wood has been redone probably by someone that sanded too much off the bottom ears, If your after a good shooter this looks to one, And I would leave the chokes alone, Nice to see a set of barrels that someone hasn't butchered.
Your probably looking at restocking the gun down the road, I would certainly think the gun is worth $1,200 just the way she sits for the Frame and Barrels , 20ga or 16 ga used Fox stocks can be found they both fit the same frame, |

Not quite as technicolored as most of Ed's "work" hard to tell from those photos if the gun has received his usual treatment, but since he says 70% case I'm guessing not. The stock has been worked over a bunch; side panels are totally gone. Again, hard to tell from the photo but something looks wrong with the grip cap; rusty screw or finish all over it? Can't tell. A Philly Fox with 2-3/4" chambers has definitely been lengthened; not necessarily a bad thing, just a matter of whether or not you want to trust Ed's gun smithing. I've never seen any in person, so I can't state an opinion, but I'd be wary considering the other stuff of his I've seen. If you could buy it right it might be OK, but ol' Ed just scares the bejeezuz out of me! |

What would "buy it right" be?
Yeah, the stock look fubar to me too - or cast off via sanding or something.
Given Ed's rep and the amount of work done on the gun, without know who did it, I'll be passing. I thought it would be a good example to learn on though.
Thanks for the help gents.

Brad I'd have to agree with you 100%
I'd have a hard time buying a real good looking gun from him, cheap, just because of his reputation. |

I bought an untouched A grade Fox from Ed and am very pleased. This gun apparently has not had the case colors messed with. That seems the objection to Ed's offerings. I don't see how refinishing the stock and re-bluing the barrels can damage the gun, unless it was hot blued. If this gun is as described, I don't see the problems. |

I absolutly LOVE the bent release lever so that it doesn't look like it's past six o'clock! I can actually hear him say to himself, "you know, while I got this torch out, I'll just fix that right up!" |
