look at the bbls - there's a number like 104.1, 104.2, 104.3 - they are code indicating the mfgr...104.3 = hunter arms (I think) - check this with a gun values book
also look at the lever - they are different - the hunters seem to be less blocky |

The 104-3 is the Hunter Arms made Ranger, All the Sears Ranger, 104-3 I have seen, were marked " Precision" or "Precision Grade" and all had twin beads, a capped pistol grip and a Ranger marked recoil pad. Many will have fancier wood than a Fulton..M D Christian |

the good Mr. Christian said it all best.
Right now I'm kinda kicking myself for missing out on a gun that is 2 digits off from mine... |

I've been praising these guns for the last 6 years or ever since I've been on forums, Larry Brown started Buildig them up and wrote an article on them, Big mistake, now I can't afford to buy a decent one. I guess I've owned 15 or 20 in the last 50 years, but don;t have one now, Got to remedy that.. MDC |

If you Gents will pull up Gunbroker #75434334, you'll find a nice example of a Fulton made Ranger. I think he paid a little too much for it though.. MDC |

Although COL Brophy didn't have much good to say about the Fulton in comparison to "real" Elsies, there are a couple advantages: no cracks behind the lock plates, and if you happen to drop the hammers when the gun is broken down, you can put it back together without having to fool with those nasty cocking levers. |

These Fultons, Hunter Specials, and Rangers seem to be coming out of the woodwork lately. I traded for a nice 16 bore the other day,, It's in the classifieds, if anyone's interested.. MDC |
