Outside the Gun Room in the racks is sitting a high condition post-1913 Featherweight Field extractor. Case still stong and the brls and wood only with minor use, and original buttplate. Looked to have 28" brls and I did not have my choke gauge with me. Mirror bores.
It is marked by Cabelas 'L.C. Smith Hunter' and priced at $695
NOW- there is a long thin crack behind the L lockplate, and a small crack on the R, both easily repaired along with gladbedding by someone like Dennis Smith, Bob Fulton, Craig Libhart at Susquehanna Stockworks, or a bunch of other stock guys. That should cost less than $200 (maybe much less.)
SO-get the gun for $650, fix the stock, maybe choke and chamber work and you've got a VERY nice 16g sweet Elsie for less than $1000 |

Could not find a listing for this gun on the internet. My brother lives in Pheonix, so I think I'll have him go and lok at it. |

Thank you Rev. I will have my brother go look at it. That's the las gun I'm looking for. A 16 gauge Elsie to go along with my Elsie 12 and my Fox 16. All sxs and o/u's now. I got my first and only double with my Elsie lasy grouse season. Using the federal low pressure shells. |

I just spoke with them about the gun. He said it also has a small crack in the fore end and a couple of dings in the barrels, one at the muzzle, and the finish is almost all grey. Did you notice these? I think he was being extra critical with the questions I was asking. He did say it locks up tight and the lever is slightly right. |

Boy-the case colors are at least 50% on that Field. I think he was talking about a cut brl/cut stock no case colors 12g Ideal with a strange ring ding in the L brl and the aforementioned crack in the FE ALSO in the rack?
I did NOT see any dings in the 16-but it was calling my name and I got out of there pretty quick |

Drew - I thought we had a deal. Even though I just bought an Italian pair, you were supposed to either:
1 - buy any Elsie 16s for yourself (to later bring to me )
or
2 - keep this kind of posts off the guns for sale section of this forum
My Ms. Elsie is a 1946 FW - she is in Pennsylvania getting cracks repaired, period stock refinishing, and a leather pad - pictures later.... |

Rev....No, he read the tag to me, it was the same gun. Said the case colors were good but the barrels were grey. Also said the fore end crack was very hard to see. |

It can't be perfect for $650. Sounds like a great gun to refurbish. |

Craig Libhart refinished and checkerd My latest LC he is a tremendous stock man. How did you hear about him Rev? He usually won't do a refinsh or repair he likes to do 2 peice restocks. I guess it depends on his work load. He lives about 20 miles from me. If I knew how to post photo's I would blow you away with his work. |

Sure makes me happy with the one I bought. It shoots as good as it looks. Gary |
