What is the advantage(s) if any, of the vented PolyChoke vs the non-vented model?
Will the adjustable (removable) choke collar and vent fit on the non-vented PolyChoke? |

do you mean are the vented and non-vented interchangeable ? the answer is yes, maybe.
the maybe is because there were at least 2 different thread specs. I have a gun that I bought a vented because if it is going to have a tumor on the end, it may as well look good
you just have to make sure that the threads are compatible (and gauge of course) |

The vented supposedly acted like a muzzle brake to reduce recoil. Not sure it did much. I put one one a Browning A5 with the vent. I was worried the vent would retard the barrel in recoil and cause malfunctions. Never did, which makes me believe they don't do much for recoil. They do look better, though. |

The vented polychoke weighs more than the non vented, personally I believe that is the only recoil reduction that it provides. Adding more overall weight to a gun.
An advantage the vented does provide is that you can glance at the end of the barrel and tell if you packed any snow in there. Or heaven forbid mud. Never had it happen to me that I know of but have listened to some "old timers" mention that when I was young.
Also agree that the vented looks better, to me. |

the vented one keeps the muzzle from jumping so you can get on the 2nd bird faster.
does nothing for recoil. |

Thanks for everyone's comments. I took a photo of the OD threads on mine and compared it to a photo of the threads on the used vented one that the seller emailed to me. They appear to be "similar" so, knowing there is a 50/50 chance that it will be interchangeable, I went ahead and ordered it ($29 incl. shipping).
The seller did say I can return it for a refund if it doesn't work. |

If that doesn't work out, I have some oddball 16 ga Polychoke parts. I'm not sure what I have anymore, but I might be able to help you out. |

The stripes give it more power, like a 69 Dodge Super Bee. |

Some people say the vents make it louder for bystanders, like Thrush mufflers on a Super Bee. |

The deluxe PolyChoke arrived today. https://www.ebay.com/itm/202555218935
Unfortunately the threads do not match. I am going to check with a local gunsmith to see how much it would cost to replace the non-vented one on my Remington 48 before sending it back. |
