Jim Zumo was once asked what his favorite and least favorite game animal for the table was. He replied "Caribou and Caribou". If your 'Bou is not rutting he will be some of the finest game meat you have ever eaten. If he is rutting you won't want to bring the meat home. Newfoundland does not have any laws against wasting game meat so they leave the caribou meat for the bears once the rut commences. I was there 7 years ago and couldn't believe it when my guide first told me.
I have taken 2 pre-rut Caribou and they were some of the best game meat I have ever eaten. I thought they were better than Mooose but Moose is darn good too.
PPG, have a great hunt. Make sure you take some good rain gear.

When I was there we had one day that it didn't rain, if you don't include the day it snowed. I was also there in Oct. Maybe Sept. is drier. Great place to hunt, you will enjoy it even if it does rain.

Hate to say this, smart man. In regards to the horses anyway. The Russels are cool. |

You would think that, running a "versitial" pairing. The pits roost um up, and if you don't just hamburger them with your cannons, the russels digum out of the woodchuck holes. |

I actually run into a guy every yr that hunts this one area of State land that uses a Jack Russel to hunt pheasants. The little sucker finds them and flushes them quite well. He just can't get them into his mouth to retrieve them. |
