Well I hope you guys are happy! I just dropped some cash on a pair of tin pants as a result of all this Filson talk. Surprised

It seems like we are constantly being faced with a "last best chance" to aquire some quality durable goods these days.

ROBP is correct, they will last forever. I just wish my darling wife wouldn't wash them in hot water. It sure makes them shrink-up. I have a heck of time getting into them on these days. Rolling Eyes

It started for me with a simple strap vest, that led to tin chaps, waxed hats, s'spenders and as of late I have been eyeing up a set of tin bibs......

an addiction I say!

Try there shirts, I know the prices seem ridiculous, but they wear like iron and I love the fact they are 100% cotton and breathe. I have three different shirt models and love them all. If you are tall, the fact that most come in tall with 1 1/2" longer sleeves and tails is nice. If you hunt in warm weather you can't beat the featherweight with a capilene t'shirt underneath.

My only problem with FILSON is that more and more of their stuff is imported, patricularly that poofter Lodge Collection. I have a real dislike for dropping $100+ on a shirt made in Sri Lanka. Some great items like the safari pants, the moleskin shirts are all imported now.

I'll still get their stuff, but I draw the line at the imported products.

I have not purchased anything from Filson in a few years and all my shirts were U.S. made. If they still use the same material, double stitched seams and attention to detail I am not sure I would care who stitched it up. Granted I would like to see the employment here in the states, but I think those times are gone, and unfortunately, not returning.

I hate to say it, but I agree with Chicago. It's a new world, and I don't see globalization ending anytime soon. Maybe the question to ask is how can we use displaced manufacturing capacity and/or workers to our advantage?

I can't wear that tin stuff; makes me sweat and I'm wringing wet in minutes. I can't even wear the waxed canvas Filson cap I have. Glad it wears forever, but give me something that breathes!

Ya, guys. I started out with a strap vest about 6-7 years ago and have been putting off on the lined Mackinaw cap and tin pants.

Went on a late season quail/chukar hunt in the Owens Valley late last Jan. and froze my ears off (hunted up as high as 9,000ft in howling wind)! All I could think about was why I hadn't pulled the trigger on the Filson hats.....I have two inbound for this season.

The tin pants just need to be in possesion. No reason to wait for these things to vanish from the market place. I don't know how often I'll use them but I think they'll turn out to be alot like 4wd....Worth every penny the first time you need 'em.

Lot's of rough country with prickly stuff out here so I'm sure I'll have 'em on quite abit. Ordered a pair of single tin's and a pair of double tin for hte real rough stuff.

Well crap. Looks like I'd better check the local Filson outlets for a pair of tin pants at the very least.

In my opinion, the Filson waxed clothing is most uncomfortable. I have a pair of tin pants I bought 20 years ago and never wear them. Not to mention they shrink alot just hanging in the closet.

After a couple of seasons with the strap vest/hats/Deer skin gloves
I finally gave-in and got myself their
Outfitter bag with the zip bottom compartment.

Best bag I've ever bought.
Rows for your shell boxes in the bottom section.
A side compartment for the E-collar and remote.
I've never had so many perfect matches for needs and thought-out pockets and compartments.

Filson is an A+.
