They're just to whippy for me.
(Edit) The more I look at it the more I believe this to be a Super Light,as the wood appears to have a high gloss finish. The Uplands were semi gloss.(Or a refinish).
The only way to tell would be on the box label.A Super light in that configuration would be rarer than an Upland as is a 24" Lightning.
If the gun has'nt had the wood redone it's well worth the BIN.Perhaps not a money maker for resale but still a fair price

I'm sure the minimum is way up there....
And they are too muzzle light for me too.

Don't really care for the English stock--still I'm nosey as to what it brings-I will keep an eye on this--won't cost anything |

The barrels are a bit shorter than my own 26" Superlight. So I'm fairly sure it's a 24" Upland. The stock finish appears to be original. Browning stopped using the flat finish on the Superlight/Upland series guns some time shortly after 1986.
Still, if anyone likes the shorter barrels, and some do, and if it can be had for under $1500, I'd say its an excellent buy. Any of the first series 16 ga guns from 1987 through '89 were very well made. I've never seen a bad one yet. That also goes for the 1994 special production run made for Bill Hicks.
These "Long Tang models" got more hand fitting and also seemed to have better wood. On top of that, the 16 ga versions did not exhibit some of the barrel flaws more common to the smaller gauge guns of this era. This probably had more to do with the bigger diameter tubes being hot brazed together--less warpage. |
