Okay, tell me, what's gone wrong with our great country that guns with wood to metal fit can't be found at the local True Value anymore"?

And, it's gotten inreasingly difficult to keep my number one squeeze in birds. She made me buy her her very own sofa just to keep her comfy and upsidedown.

Finally, we returned from another 680 mile road trip without even firing a shot. And later had to resort to having a friend plant birds in a perfectly good habitat for us to shoot clean and share for dinner:Notice she's whispering to me saying; "you ain't gonna go public with this are ya?"

Jig --Now you got me up on my soap box! Damn!

I am so fed up with the lack of good American made products I can't stand it anymore! --And that includes a good hardware store gun, and even a good hardware store for that matter! I hate Lowe's and Home Depot.

Seriously, I think the lack of American manufacturing and products has really become a national defense issue that nobody seems to be talking about. I don't want to sound paranoid or anything, but it seems to me that we have sold our "soul" to the Chinese. God forbid if they ever decided we are no longer a "good" investment.

Too scary for me to think...

BTW: At least your gal doesn't post a "honey do" list on the refrigerator!

CSMC may not make 'Hardware Guns' but remember the LC's, Parkers, Model 21's etc of yesterday were not inexpensive guns. Frankly Tony is making some of the best guns in the world right now and an even better value considering the $.-Dick

Give me the stuff of old.
A hardware store small enough for one man to give proper customer service and big enough to find everything I need. Talk to the storekeeper for a minute or two about the Mrs. and last Friday nights Highschool football battle of the bridges. When I find everything I need I prepare to haul it out to my all steel bodied pickup. The one with 200,000 miles and no first gear but will still get me to that secret fly fish'n spot. As I walk by the counter and tip my hat something catches my eye. A single shot 16 is it?
$60 he says. "Jim was in yesterday practicing his swing and nicked the stock. See...right there. $50 and she's yours." I say it would be perfect for my son. And come to think of it, his son too. And maybe even his.........

I remember a little hardware store by my house, when I was growing up.
That actually rented Win. model 94's during the deer season. Seems like he had pump shotguns he rented in the fall also. I think there is one small hardware store left in my town, and 3 small gunshops. I refuse to buy anything from the big box stores, that I can buy from these guys.

I'm still living the dream. We have 3 hardware stores and 1 grocery store and 12 churches in town. The mayor runs one hardware store and stocks shelves as well. We can go 80 miles to the big box stores if we want. I myself don't, except once every other month for my fix at Sportsmans Warehouse. Other than that, I find myself quite content in this little community of 1400 wonderful people.
Best,
Ron

Just blew coffee all over my keyboard! Laughing

I wouldn't mind living in Mayberry myself! I have 26 bars, 2 home depot's, a Lowe's and 4 major casino's all within about 4 miles of my house! All in all, I'd rather hunt pheasants and fish than play blackjack!

I couldn't agree more. It won't be long before China will have the power to put us on our knees.

About 50 years ago one of the Russians, possibly Kruschev (sp?), said "Before we hang the last capitalist, he will sell us the rope."

Guys, I think we are currently selling China the rope.

The worst thing that ever happened to this great country was the death of Sam Walton. Sam was proud of having "Made in USA" products on his shelves. All his heirs care about is the lowest prices and their bottom line, and more than anyone else have helped put us where we are now.

Just my opinion, and worth exactly what you paid for it.

Jig mentioned True Value Hardware and ToddN told his story about a $60 hardware store single shot.

I have an old 16ga single shot that I picked up at a pawn shop a couple years ago. On one side of the receiver it has the model number 94B stamped in very small numbers. It was made by Stevens around 1940 and is in very good condition inside and out with nice straight grained walnut.

I paid $60 for it and the name stamped in large block letters is "TRU-TEST" which was sold by True Value Hardware.

Square load: I have long been interested i hardwars brand guns, now you have thrown me a curve.. I'm only going from memory, so correct me if I'm wrong, but True Value Hardwares came about in the early 1960s and the Tru Test name goes back to the 20s and I didn't know it lasted as long as the 60s .. Is there anything published on this? .. Thanks MDC
