I confess.....I am new to the 16 gauge world.

Caught the bug this fall - started out harmlessly shooting doves with my new old Stevens 311A (d) Mod/Full. Next thing I know I have four 16s. The aforementioned 311, next an Ithica nitro special IC/IC, then along came a deal on a 1100......now a BPS 24".

Where does it end? (Right now says the spouse). "Either you stop buying 16s or I go"................I am sure going to miss her!!

OK....I jest.

I don't know much, but hopefully you can help me change that.

I have been reading this BB for a month and have been very interested in the 16 ga. and it's history and performance. I'm new to pointing dogs in the last two years and books I've read by George Bird Evans and similar authors talk of the tradition of 16 ga. and SxS shotguns and pointing dogs. So I'm expecting delivery on my Uggie grade 1 16 next Wednesday.

I am also cheap. I haven't found the right deal on a Sweet 16......yet.

I also have to watch my step on the next one.

I think the spouse was taking notes on the growning stash of shotguns lying around. I didn't mention that there are three or more other gauges and guns from a former life in various hiding places in and around the house.

Trust me. When you get your collection above 50 they quit counting.

Welcome aboard, Hlavoun. I see that you hail from the place of the former "best little whorehouse in Texas." Very Happy I spent 7 yrs in Austin while attending UT.

I own 7 shotguns, not sure you can ever have to many. I currrently own more than I can shoot at one time, but not as many as I need. As I have said many times, I think I have bought my last shotgun. But I know I am lying to myself.

At the moment, I only have four, but I hope to add one or two more this year. I want another 16 to go with my Uggie sxs. Having said that, when I get a bad case of the covets, I ask myself, shouldn't I be saving this money for hunting trips this Fall rather than buying another gun?

Yeah, right. Shocked

I have in the neighborhood of 40 or so shotguns plus what rifles and pistols I have and am in no way near the "last" one. But I am in a constant state of awareness looking for the "next" one.
