I know I'm preaching to the choir, but I stumbled across this article and decided to share.

http://www.sportsmansguide.com/tip/tip_read.asp?tid=175185&sid=73

Anyway, this guy says the "lowly" 16 is headed for extinction. Someone needs educated.

They have been headed for extinction ever since I started shooting my Win 37 40 years ago. Looks like they will be here longer than I will.

The deeper I read the article the stupider the guy sounds.

I believe this "expert" article was discussed here about 6 months ago.

A wise man once defined expert for me. "An 'ex' is a has been, and a 'spert' is a drip under pressure."

I have no problem with his article. I'm glad he wrote it.

He and all those that believe him will never bid against me on a classic 16 ga. And I'm tickled pink about it.

Yeah a dead gauge.

Let's see, Browning has reintroduced the 16 gauge, Parker O frame 16 gauges go for BIG bucks, Sweet 16s are out of control and B&P can't keep 16 gauge ammo in stock

Rolling Eyes

He is also wrong about the 3" 20 gauge and 410 as well.

The recoil from a Remington SP-10 is nothing compared to that of a 3" 20ga shell in a citori lightning.

This guy is a real hack.

Some "expert" said women would never wear Stockings after Pantyhose was invented. Sure glad he was wrong too! Very Happy

Gamekeeper-
You've brought back memories of Highschool-
Miss Mary O'Hara- only wore silk stockings, never pantyhose. It was always a real pleasure to catch a glimpse of her well formed upper thigh.

Sigh. Thanks for the memory!

Ash

Here's a real gem:

The advertised velocity of the 16-gauge have never measured-up to manufacturers' promises. With no perceived weight difference from the 12-gauge, the lowly 16-gauge is destined for extinction.

And I wish that I could get factory RGL's that were about 80 fps slower as opposed to the 1250 fps they usually run.

If you think that the writer is misinformed, what are your thoughts on the editor, as in the guy who paid for the article?

If you've ever read the item descriptions in the Sportsmans Guide catalog, you might note that some libertys are taken there. Maybe it's the same guy that wrote the informative shotgun selection article. At any rate, I hope he spreads the word. The price of the American classics are getting out of hand on 16's.

Does anyone want my Ugartechea 16? After reading this article, I guess I'll just give it away, or use it as a tomato stake in the Spring.

What a bunch of crapola. Rolling Eyes
