This is "Reina's" first point on a live bird on the Pigeon pole this morning! She is 17 weeks old.

I appreciated that post. I really enjoy training dogs; I wish you the best. She is a nice loking dog. My short hair is five so I am really through training, but I spend a lot of time training with others and shooting for them etc.. It is one of the great joys in my life.

What a cute pup!
If you decide you don't like her, I'll let you know where you could find her a good home!! |

There are few things better than the promise of a puppy going on point the first time. May this be the first of thousands for you two.
Best,
Mike |

Thanks for posting those pictures. That is about the best a non-whiskered versatile dog can look! It was -15 last weekend with a couple of feet of hard pack snow ..... so we are a couple of months from getting back out to the fields to train dogs around here. To me the most important part of the hunt is not the gun you carry or the number of birds you put in the bag, but the dog work. I love the versatile breeds ..... and all the promise that comes with a good pup. Enjoy! |

Nice pup doc. I know you know what your doing but take it slow and let that dog chase some birds while its young. There is plenty of time to steady her but not alot of time to build that prey drive and desire. Just my unsolicited 2 cents. I can't wait till she points that first wild bird for you when you have a gun in your hand. Wow what a proud moment. |

David,
Great looking pup. Here is mine (8 years old), I left her tail long because it was so pretty. Lola (her mother's name was Pepa and I got her in Spain) is showing her grey on the muzzle.
Don't try to rush them, you will lose the fun and enjoyment of watching a pup come along.
