If the 16ga. Society were to endorse a new product this would be it. There is a new clay target game here in California. It's been up and running about 8 months at a Clay Range in Southern California. They call it ARGENTINA CLAYS.
The game mimics the kind of shooting that one might expect on an Argentine dove shoot. The nature of the game requires good, instinctive shooting. The targets are thrown in pairs and each pair is randomly selected by the software, from 6 traps. This makes any anticipation of target direction impossible, eliminating preshouldering or adjustment of your stance to a known break point. The pairs are thrown automatically with an 8 second loading interval in between. A single target is thrown after twelve pairs and a round of 25 is over in under two minutes. This game is BIG fun.
They installed a prototype at a range here last summer and the range owner asked for another after three weeks. They are ready to starting selling the box that makes it all possible. It costs about same as a single trap machine. You might want to have your range owner check it out.

Big, big fun. |

I have played a game called "crazy skeet" - aside from range safety, the only rule is be ready when you close the gun...sometimes it's a pair, one then one on report or just one - wait for it, wait for it...Oh! there it is!
Etc. - I like crazy skeet and usually hit better on the 2 & 3 stations than in skeet - it's more like teal than clays...
I like the sound of this game. |

The ranges in Southern Cal are Moore-N-Moore Sporting Clays and Redlands Trap & Skeet. I don't think Redlands has been installed yet.

DAMN That looks like fun!
Double your range business! Make owning the range even more profitable!
Or maybe profitable at all.
25 birds in two minutes. Hell I'd play

Has any one tried Argen Clays e-mail? My tries get bounced as undeliverable.

That sounds like fun. I mimic a game somewhat like that when I shoot with buddies with handheld throwers. I like to have the thrower out of sight uphill from me, either sidehill or behind me, as I walk along with my gun at the ready, and I never know where (or when) the target(s) will come from. It's a lot of fun. You have to get on target FAST. The act of walking rather than standing when you see the target mimics upland pass shooting (pheasants, chukars flushed by someone uphill, etc.) more than most range games in my opinion. It doesn't mimic walking up behind a pointer, but that's usually pretty easy. |
