Boy, I hope it never comes to that kinda red tape here in the States.
But, with Obama looking like the next President, it will probably be worse. Crying or Very sad

I had no knowledge of "Shotgun Certificate" when I moved from Italy to England in 1974. I had a little Bernadelli Brescia 20 bore in with my household goods. I did not bother to collect them until The Thames Valley Police produced a certificate. Like our Tasmanian friend it took six months. I am supprised that one from Australia moving to an Australian Island would have to get a new "Cert".

Good Lord, 470!

You mean you went on "walkabout" at the farm without your gun? I know that disease is keeping your poor little "devils" in check, but how did you fend off the dreaded tiger snakes?

According to the outdoor tv shows we see, the australian woods are full of them! Not to mention many other deadly snakes, spiders, platypus duckbills, jellyfish in the water, etc. Shocked

Ol Southern Lawyer
The Devils are having a rough time of it at the moment.
If you look on the UTAS web page you can see the work that they are doing. On the Tasmanian Devil Facial Tumour Diease. If any one feels inclined they can make a donation to the fund direct on line. They say that a cure is 5 years away.

The tiger snakes are'nt a problem, the Jack jumper ants are, they can kill you and they are only an inch long.

The gun laws in this country went pear shape in 1996 when Martin Bryant killed 30 people at Port Arthur (southern Tasmania)

I'm sorry I can't post any photos as i'm computer stupid. If you google Mt Roland Sheffield Tasmania,Ilive at the foot of mt roland.

Hoashooter we really don't have that much of a problem just that guns have to be licenced, and red tape to back it up.I own over twenty rifles and shotguns ranging from .177 through 500 Jefferys ,12000 rounds of shotgun ammo 20 lbs of nitro powder and the same in black.the only thing we can't have is semi & auto rifles and as you are aware I shoot double rifles and shotguns so I don't miss the autos

good shooting

I googled up Mt Roland Sheffield as you indicated. Nice looking area that you live in!

What kind of fowl and game do you have available in the area, besides the other pests already mentioned?

I also googled up Jack Jumper ant. It sounds like a nasty little bugger! Says it kills more folks than snakes, sharks, wasps, etc combined on a yearly basis!
