Brethren ( and Ladies),
Contacted Ithaca regarding new choked tube barrels for my three (12, 16, & 20). here' their response:
We do have replacement barrels available for sale for the 12 and 20 gauge
configurations. Please look at our barrel page on our website;
http://www.ithacagun.com/ithacabarrels.html. Also you will need to call Zak
our parts and service manager to order the barrels. Zak can be reached at
1-877-648-4222 or at 419-294-4113.
The 16 gauge should be available later in the year.
Just letting you know! |

You need to get rid of the last period after the html in the address. Otherwise just go the homepage and use the dropdown.
They say that the barrels they have use the post '63, #855,000 threads but will still have to be fit and headspace checked by them.
Site only says "later this year" regarding a 16 ga., but does say they are planning a sxs and o/u (no mention of gauge, most likely 12 and 20).

When the 16 gauge barrel becomes available I am going to have one fitted to my 1939 16 gauge Model 37. It's original barrel is 28" FULL, which is OK for squirrels but not much else.
I will have a 26" with screw chokes fitted, hopefully without a VR. The 1939 weighs 6# 5.7oz and a 26" VR 16 gauge M37 I purchased from the former Ithaca owners weighed 6# 14.3oz. Hopefully the weight can be kept close to the original which was one of the attractive features of the early Model 37's!.
I am also waiting to see the outcome of the 28 gauge developement of the Model 37. If Ithaca can bring in a sub 6# gun, i may purchase one but then again a 16 gauge Ultra Featherlight would be nice also.
I don't have much hope they can bring in a double gun of any fashion.-Dick |

My 16 Ultra was a tooth rattler. Down the road. The 1957 steel framed, non ribbed plain Jane is a keeper, however.
There is something about the old 37s, that I can't put my finger on, that just makes them more welcome at my house.
Best,
Ted |

There's a "plain Jane" beauty to the 37's, the receiver states strength, the balance is delightful and the smoothness, unreal. |
