I am trying to decide what powder will work best for a 7/8 oz to 1 oz load in a cheddite/multi-hull case. I have seen a lot of recipes, and want to know what works best. I am trying to decide between Unique and Universal. Anyone have pros and cons for the powders? Which is "bulkiest"? Any other powder suggestions are welcome. Thanks.

I'm trying to keep from having to buy both powders...to try and save on cost.

I use both in the RGL with 7/8 oz. I like the universal alot better the 16gr charge of Unique leaves tons of unburned powder for me and the Universal burns more completely. When I shoot 100 rounds of the unique it looks like the gun took a bath in it.

Or go with something faster. GD works fine with 3/4 oz and 7/8 oz in the 16.

I'll have to go back and check my books and the LPG files for greendot loads and see what comes up. I know I have many load recipes for Universal.

mtjim - the Low Pressure Group (LPG) has many loads and would be worth your while to join for this info.

Please forgive me if you are already a member of the LPG but I thought I'd point it out in case you aren't.

Be persistent and maybe drop a reminder - it will be worth it.

mtjim: try looking at the hodgdon's load data. They have a bunch of Universal loads for the Rem hulls and the Cheddite hulls. See the link:

I use Clays for 7/8oz. loads and universal for the 1oz. Clays is also a fast powder.

I use american select for 7/8 loads in my 2.5" gun for a nice low pressure low recoil load. I have been well pleased with the performance.

What about Solo-1250, has anyone tried that for 7/8 loads? What kind of performance do you get from it?

Thanks
