Gents,
Have a M500, 12ga, have a 26" tubed barrel. Washington Game regs require no=tox shot for some area , west of Cascades Mtn., so for upland use and some pass waterfowling, how should a select a steel rated choke tube?

It seems that Carlson's website indicates that steel will give tighter choke, e.g.: Skt goes to I/C, I/C go to MOD.

Get one first then, then other???
Thanks.

I would pass on the steel and buy some bismuth or other lead-similar shot. You spend too much time walking for the few shots you get, so buy the best and get the confidence and performance that goes with it. You'll shoot better.

Another benefit of bismuth is that it and some other non-tox loads are maleable (sp?) and I've heard tales of the old duck hunters pulling out their old, tight 12 bores and enjoying the hunt again; I'm one of those hunters that can count as a friend someone who quit duck hunting after the lead ban.

I used to use heavyshot in my 20 for roosters in the marshes, but never went tighter than modified choke. I use bismuth in my francotte 16.
