You may want to try the Sierra Nevadas for Blue Grouse, I think you would have to go pretty far north in CA for ruffs. |

I don't think there are any in MI so don't bother yourself with this state. |

Yep, no sense coming to northern Wisconsin, either. |

Northern Minnesota, in Canada, North Western Ontario, eastern and north central Manitoba. Numbers peaked a couple years back and much reduced this fall.

A few years ago, a friend hunted ruffed grouse on private land in Maine. |

Well, I will speak up for northern Minnesota, actaully north central. I think the grouse hunting will be down from the last two years, but still will be some grouse around. My dogs have been flushing grouse in my walks behind the house. A few to many leaves yet. A friend of mine owns the local sporting goods store here in Remer. They can use the business. So come on up. spend your money and enjoy some of the best grouse hunting woods around. I'll post on my blog how the grouse hunting is as soon as the leaves fall. The leaves are starting to turn colors in areas. The maples are really looking nice. Hunters are welcome in Remer. Remer is the deer hunting capital of Minnesta. Myself, the coffee is allways on and I have beer in the fridge. |
