Hello All,
I just traded for a nice GECO 16 gauge SXS with 65mm chambers. In looking around in a effort to load for it, I converted a Pacific 155 press to 16 gauge. I made a lifter to fit in the crimp starter area to 6 point crimp start. I used a Lyman E-Z trimmer to trim Federal hulls to 2.5 inches, 16.2 grains of Green Dot, Remington 1 1/8 oz wad, 2 cherrios placed flat into the wad, 7/8 oz of shot and they crimped perfectly.
Now for the gun !!!!!!!!!! Who can tell me what about this GECO shotgun? SN 311**, lots of proof marks, both barrels choke 16.8, 1kg425, f, 16-65, and more proofs. Please assist,
Enjoy the day,
Thanks, Mike |

Hello All
Took it to the skeet range tonight, wow!! Full and Fuller, the birds that I hit were SMOKED. Really enjoyed shooting the gun and it had no oddness or hiccups tonight. Shot two rounds with it. Also shot two rounds with a Browning Citori 16 gauge with IC and Mod chokes. I shot it better :>)
Enjoy the day,
Mike |

GECO - Gustav Genschow & Co., AG, of Berlin was and maybe still is a retailer of Firearms and other sporting goods.
All of the GECO marked Shotguns I have seen were made by JP Sauer und Sohns - really sturdy guns. Can you post pictures of the barrel flats and "water table" or more properly know as action flats ? |

I saw one at a shop about a year ago. seemed like a nice tight light gun. Still thinking it might be there, as it was a short chamber gun, and was kinda tucked in a corner. They had it marked as a spanish gun. Geco sourced guns from different manufactures best I can tell. Some are Sauer, some are belgian, and some are german guild guns. Sometimes parts were sourced from spain. I think that was the case with this gun. They saw a spanish proof somewhere on the gun and put "spanish 16" on the sale tag.
Collectors lists a few currently..

Mike, I picked up a GECO from simpsonltd. some time ago. Other than being frame specific for it's 16 bore it is a line for line copy of my old Merkel M8 right down to the engraving. Made in Merkel's GDR plant in the 50's.
I had the forcing cones lengthened and the tight chokes opened up and it has become my first choice for all things shotgun with the exception of open water waterfowl. I wouldn't trade it! From all I can learn they can be great little guns.

Rooster,
Great, THANKS!
I shot another two rounds of skeet with it last evening. It did quite well when I held my head off the stock. I think that I shot a 20x25 with it on the last round. It shoots real flat, must be made for the Continental way of shooting :>)) WOW!! What an ink spot when they are hit!!!
I made 7/8 oz loads with 16.2 grains of Green Dot, but they seem to recoil a bit with this light weight gun, so will go up to Unique and soften the load some more.
Currently it is full and fuller and 2 1/2 inch chambers. But with the tripple lock system, I will most likely take it out to 2 3/4 and releive the forcing cones, and then open the chokes up to IC and Mod. Who did the work for you?
Enjoy the day,
Mike |

Mike, sorry for the long delay in answering your question.
I had Mike Orlen do the barrel work on the Geco. Great work, quick turnaround, and very fair price.

Proof marks are from Leige Belgium. If you go to their web site you can make out different years etc.
Hope this helps |
