I just read where Ithaca is back in business so I fired off an email to see about getting a new VR barrel for my old M37 that I had as a kid. Looks like their offering some wood upgrades as well. I'm not certain what year my 37 was made but I know it's one of the older ones. Maybe they don't have barrels or wood for the older guns...The serial # on mine is 53174 if anyone can tell me about when it was made.
Many Thanks

My M37 has serial number 500xxx, and it was made in late 1952. Yours was PROBABLY made in 1953 or 1954. Les Hovencamp of Diamond Gunsmithing will tell you for sure if you contact him. He had been Ithaca's head gunsmith for 28 years. Contact him at either www.diamondgunsmithing.com or 607-273-4510. Good luck. |

Oops, I just saw I misread your serial number. I'm guessing late 1930's. But again Mr. Hovencamp will tell you for sure. |

Les Hovencamp at Diamond Gunsmithing informs me that my M37 was made in 1942.

Walt Snyder's follow-up book to 'The Ithaca Gun Company', 'Ithaca Featherlight Repeaters', has an almost complete listing of SN's for the M-37 and 87. Sorry, but I gave mine to a buddy who collects M-37's. |
