Tony. except for BPI and their MultiMetal wad, I don't know of any others.

What other wads have you found for the 16 with hard types of shot?

DC & SS,
Might want to have a look at these, I'm on the verge of ordering a selection of the Helarcos in steel for the 12 & 16. Looks like the TSS load columns are mostly packers to fill up the space in the thick plastic high volume steel wads.

The 12ga VP51 might be just the ticket for a 1oz or 1 1/4oz load of the tungsten without too much in the way of fillers.
I was planning on putting together some steel loads for my brother in law who doesn't reload, he's a waterfowler on the St. Lawrence.
The straight tungsten though, with it's high density, obviously has a great deal to offer in improved ballistic performance. Maybe a 28ga wad in the VP80 would work for 7/8oz load of #8's for the 16gauge.
Cheers,
R*2

So 4 sizes smaller than steel? I do not have a lead waterfoul reference, I've been shooting WF in the steel age. 7's on ducks....HELLO 16ga over pot holes & jumped ducks.

The BP12 wad works in the 16ga at 0.665 od. Lymans 4th has a couple of loads listed in the 16ga Steel section. Called & asked BPI on why they no longer offer the wad in two versions and they replied that the listed wad is the old listed as "tuff" and that they sold very few of the other version so dropped it.

I would think this should work great with that TSS. Thanks for the heads-up on the TSS Tony.

Probably as gentle as the tip of a stump grinder, tub grinder or road bed resurfacer tooth.

I've seen (I think it was Cabellas, can't remember) a counter top metal detector for finding left over bullet shards and shot in game; might come in handy for this stuff.

I might have to invest in one of those counter top metal detectors, as I already have one crown thanks to a hevi-shot pellet.

Looks like the 28 gauge is back in play as a goose gun! It appears that one should step down in pellet size to get good/high pellet counts (#7 almost seems too large at these densities) and put in the cylinder or skeet tube for consistent patterns.

I have limited experience working up loads but count me in if there's something I can do to contribute. I can reload some of the stuff in recipes for testing if it will help.

Any secret or theory to apply to slitting those steel wads? Seems like by slitting it about half its length in four places you would be able to keep a pretty strong core to the pattern through the recommended improved cylinder chokes.
