Shooting Sportsman magazine published an article on a home made shot hardness tester some years ago complete with a chart that provided data necessary to determine antimony content.
I'll try and find the correct issue when I return home.That information, coupled with your data Mike, should be all one needs to accuratelly estimate the 'hardness' of shot and evaluate the claims of ammunition manufacturers.

An Aussissie writer Ron Forsyth,I believe ,wrote articles about shot hardness and how to test it in the late ,80s early 90s for the magazine Australian shooters journal.Regards Tom

Mike, I'm not at home as I write this...in the lobby of the motel while on a shooting trip. BUT I'll get the reference (and a copy) of that artcile for you when I get home late in October.
The tester used the increase in dismeter of a single pellet after the impact of a known weight from a predetermined height (ft. lbs. of impact) and the artlcle provided a chart with the various shot sizes and the resulting change in diameters after impact to determine antimony content.
