Shooting Sportsman magazine published an article on a home made shot hardness tester some years ago complete with a chart that provided data necessary to determine antimony content.
I'll try and find the correct issue when I return home.That information, coupled with your data Mike, should be all one needs to accuratelly estimate the 'hardness' of shot and evaluate the claims of ammunition manufacturers. |

| An Aussissie writer Ron Forsyth,I believe ,wrote articles about shot hardness and how to test it in the late ,80s early 90s for the magazine Australian shooters journal.Regards Tom |

Mike, I'm not at home as I write this...in the lobby of the motel while on a shooting trip. BUT I'll get the reference (and a copy) of that artcile for you when I get home late in October.
The tester used the increase in dismeter of a single pellet after the impact of a known weight from a predetermined height (ft. lbs. of impact) and the artlcle provided a chart with the various shot sizes and the resulting change in diameters after impact to determine antimony content.
