Saw one yesterday at Fin & Feather in Iowa City, IA. Francotte 25E. This is a very high grade sideplated boxlock, imported by Von Lengerke and Detmold of New York. Manufactured some time prior to 1924, 2 5/8" chambers. Appears to be all original except forcing cones lengthened and chokes opened, to about .005/.008. 26", straight grip, dimensions 14 1/2" to a Pachmayr Decelerator pad x 1 1/2 x 2 1/2 (approximately), double triggers, ejectors. Some cast for the right hand shooter. Weighs 6 1/4 with 26" barrels. Gorgeous wood in excellent condition, exquisite full coverage engraving. Barrel blue faded in spots, would say about 80%. It's a consignment gun, tagged at $3950, would probably sell somewhere around $3700. I had serious thoughts of taking it home, but it's too much like a Greener 16 I already have. Fin & Feather tel # is 319-354-2200, ask for Pat to talk about the gun, tell him you heard about it from me. They don't normally deal in high dollar doubles, but they got several in from a woman recently widowed, her husband's guns. He had very nice taste! |
