I have a used/not abused 16 with a ventilated PolyChoke installed. There is no choke marking on the barrel, so I think the PolyChoke was probably a factory option.

Can anyone confirm?

I had "heard" that the vents made report especially obnoxious. I experienced no discomfort in the field, but suppose it could be a factor on target ranges (skeet/trap).

What you "heard" is irrelevant due to hearing protection at the range. As far as your polychoke, I am 95% certain you are correct that it was factory installed. If memory serves, there should be a number on the choke that indicates Remington or Polychoke installation. I am sure someone will be along soon with more accurate information.
I have an 11-48 with a Polychoke and it is a grand gun for the money. Mine will shoot any shell you feed it. Rabbit, quail, squirrel, 5-stand, sporting clays- it has been used. Hope you enjoy yours!

KJ - we have a proliferation of poly's and cutts comp thruout our area . Has been the gun of choice - 1100 with cutts for all our world champ skeeters !! skeet , you are in front of the group and isn't much of a concern at all . In trap , you are standing NEXT to the other guys and it is more annoying . Some still shoot trap with one , and usually gets some bad looks from the other squad guys , though don't know of any direct confrontations . ( my #2 skeet gun is a 16 , 48 sportsman with a cuts - love it !!)

And for 12 gauge cutts, I use a thin walled brass tube to insert inside the cutts body and then screw on the choke tube to render the cutts ports closed.

Thanks for the discussion.

The code on the barrel is DXX which I think is 1951 (only 4 years younger than me if true). It’s holding up much better than I am.

Next use will be a lodge hunt in SD in March (if I get a kitchen pass). Two years ago we were in shirtsleeves in the afternoon; last year we had wind chill of -6 and the birds were hiding in someone’s barn.
