Gentlemen:

I'm probably going to regret this (as I was interested and I know that competition is fierce amongts this "friendly" society Wink ), but I was trolling around on Gunbroker.com several days ago and ran across this listing (before the auction closed today):

http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=155277736

I have broused my gun books many times in the past for a 16 ga trap gun (I shoot an 1100 16 ga each year in a local trap league - almost bought a 16 ga LC Smith several years ago) and I have seen little record of single barrel 16 ga trap guns (other than some single barrel hardware types). When I discovered this listing over the weekend I went to my books (blue book etc...) and all of them say the Ithaca Victory was a 12 ga (no other gauges listed).

I sent a private email to seller asking for pics (which came late today) and especially a pic of the stamping on barrel listing 16 ga. Got pics, but can't see gauge - too much glare. Asked again for clearer pics, but no answer yet.

Concern on my part that no 3-day return policy (sold as is). I don't want to invest in a Victory in 12 ga if not a 16 ga Sad , but I hate to let er get away if relisted as a true 16 Exclamation

In pics received today, the wood extension looks good. Not quite sure, but the rib looks like a non-Ithaca rib to me too.

Your thoughts? Any 16s made as Victory models? Special order?

Certainly not a Victory grade Dr Bill

Looks to be an early 'Knick' 4E with NOT a factory rib and by the barrel contour could be a 16 Shocked
So quit looking and buy it and let us know what you find- a small sacrifice for the Society Laughing

Dunno about the grade, etc., but I sure would like to have one of those single-barrel trap guns one day; (might even make me take up trap!). They are an awesome hold-over from the days of the true "gentleman shooter".

I can see me now: pull up to the club with my SBT gun in a leg o' mutton case, dressed in a nice shooting jacket and neck tie, fedora tilted just so. Light my pipe while I set her up and wait my turn, shoot my round, a nice neat whisky after. Ah yes...
