There's a pretty rare Model 31 16 ga skeet that just popped up on Gunbroker. Scarce gun. Started at $450. Be interesting to see where it ends up. |

One bid so far--I bet it'll go for around $700-The 31 was a fine gun-not even listed in the 29th Blue book in 16 gauge only the 12 and 20 skeet versions- |

I love a M12 but the 31 was the finest pump gun ever made so yep I can see the price given for the ole girl .

I was high bidder at 725.00 Not sure if I'll go again. Bought a nice 20 ga. SKEET last month..plain barrel..for 375...I have a nice UNNUMBERED 16 ga. SKEET marked barrel...if anyone has anice 16 ga with no barrel..or a bad/polychoke barrel...The 16 SKEET is worth just what it brings..Not enough to compare prices...If anyone has a nice 16 ga. that I can use my barrel on...call me..It will save me some money !!..jerry...870-847-5771...PS..Got a 20ga. CYL bore last month too. |

The model 31 is basically a sideloading version of the Remington 17/Ithaca 37. It was developed to compete on the target fields w/ the Winchester Model 12. The side port is far more convenient and a bit safer for repetative loading and unloading during a match.
Great pump to be sure, but no better or slicker to shuck than the Model 17/37 in my experience--especially for hunting. I prefer the 37. I like the security of the bottom ejector when in the field. I can carry the 37 with a shell on the lifters w/ the forend back and not have it fall out. Can't do that w/ a side port repeater. Keeps the junk out better too. Browning knew what he was doing. |

Browning knew what he was doing? Well, with lots of help from Thomas Crosley Johnson and other engineers. |
