Well, I finally did it: went down and picked up an Ithaca Model 37 (circa mid-50's) in 16 gauge Very Happy . So after lurking here for several weeks I now feel I have some credibility with you fellow 16 gaugers. What a sweet little gun! I've owned dozens of pump guns throughout the years and this has by far the smoothest action I've seen. And it's so light! Can't wait to try it out on dove, quail and pheasant this fall.

Of course, since I now have a 16 gauge gun I had to run out and buy an MEC 600Jr so I can load. I now reload in every gauge except 10 gauge -- am I sick?

Definately! Most Definately. But its a most pleasant malady. Incidentlly. I once fired a 3-1/2 inch 10 gauge. I was allowed two shots. I fired the second one from the off shoulder. I was then able to applaud the feat behind my own back with my shoulder blades for a few hours after. Wink

I once heard a fellow claim to hunt quail with a 10 gauge. Someone then asked him if he shot them or trapped them in the end of the barrel. I said the 10 double makes a fine upland gun... all 11 pounds of it. Smile

Well.....YOU mentioned 10 gauge....... a cloud of shot ....1 1/2 oz.....a cloud of smoke........you ONLY get one shot.......and that almost as easy on the shoulder as a modern 16ga......

Oh, and if it weighs 6 pounds, it's because it is loaded, and I left the loading rod in the barrel.....
