I picked up a used 870 16 ga that had been opened from modified to improved cylinder. It was filthy and the action was sludgy. Gun scrubber in an aerosol can was marginal, so I went to Google and typed in "How to Disassemble Remington 870." Surprise, at least to me, since the pump I used for 60 years was a Model 12. Up came a video with a close-up demonstration of removing the bolt, the carrier, magazine assembly, etc. And then he put it back together again. I watched it twice. Simple! Now it works like a new gun.

The 870 16ga. pumps from the 1950,s-60,s were full proof and trouble free. I have a 1953 16ga 870 with plain barrel mod. choke it is my best small game shotgun and bird gun. Lite fast and very smooth!!

I have a 52 skeet 16 and so marked, great shotgun and weighs about 6.75 lbs. on the 12 ga. frame. Can't figure out when they brought them out again why they couldn't do it right.
