If you want buy a long gun in Connecticut.
1) you buy gun and have NICS check and fill out the forms
2) then have to wait 14 full days before you can take home
3) after 14 days there is ANOTHER NICS and if pass AGAIN you you take your gun home.
Welcome to a very dark blue state |

I agree that there are some real bargains out there now. Last month I picked up a very clean, original 16ga Winchester model 12 with a solid rib for $400 at a gun show. |

pezman,
You need to get yourself a CT Pistol Permit, that gets rid of the waiting period completely, on any firearm purchase. A CT Hunting License cuts down the waiting time on long guns only.
BTW, if you live in Hartford I live right across the river from you. I shoot at Rockville Gun Club regularly and Hartford for 5 Stand now and then. Maybe we will meet someday, if we already haven't. |

Unfortnately Hartford PD rejects people for pistol permits without cause. This happened too me in 1998. I am homeowner on my Condo Board as treasure. Same residence since 1987. Trinity College Grad. No arrest history other than 2 speeding tickets 1982 ( got them because the used car dealer put 15" tires on a car that was supposed to 14" on it, they 1 week apart when first bought the car) .
Passed background check to work abused kids.
Had medication adminstration cert from DMR & DCYS.
Had public service drivers licence
I was still turned down.
I got hosed.
Att. Sherman said I could get overtuned but I did not have the money
to pursue it.
But then again I live in city where a gang banger who was an unendicted co-conspirator in a murder got elected mayor. Then arrest twice for corruption and instead of calls for resignation there a prayer vigil for him.
I am member at Windsor Marksman Asso.
I go out shoot skeet at Rockville Weds sometimes during the day.
I thinking of going tommarrow.
I never got around to getting a hunting licence because I don't hunt. |

Once upon a time, I had the freedom to shoot on Wednesdays at Rockville, but that was 20 years ago. I don't have a 2nd shift job anymore, I got responsible in my old age. I have burned up a pile of ammo there.
I hear you about Perez, that guy lives under a lucky star with some help from the rest of the corrupt politicians. New Haven prospers while Hartford fumble bumbles along.
Anyway have fun tomorrow. |

Like you, last fall I picked up a Philly16ga. 28 inch barrels for 900.00. I also got a 20ga with 28in barrels for 800.00. Same dealer had both guns that are good solid shooters.
Regards, Gordon |

Re the "cooling off period" &etc, Wow.
Here in Alpharetta, GA, if you have a CCW all you do is present it to the FFL holder and fill out the standard short form for the purchase; you walk out of the shop with your firearm, whether it be a rifle, shotgun or handgun, about two minutes later depending upon how quickly the clerk can ring you up.
Funny story. When I first moved down here from MI, I went to the local courthouse to apply for my GA CCW. Walked up to the second floor where the appropriate office was, and the sign above the door read: "Weapons Permits & Marriage Licenses." One-stop shopping! |
