My father was a wholesaler for Winchester. In 1965, he was wanting another Model 12 and went to one of his retailers to try to find one. Luckily, he had one left and sold it to him.
It is in the original box and has never been assembled or fired. Factory grease is still on the gun.
It is a full choke 16ga field grade, plain barrel.
I am looking for several offers. |

Maybe you should put it on an auction site?
This isn't one.
Best,

Guys, I'm sorry but simply do not know what the gun is truly worth and I thought you may help me. I own several other 16s, including another Model 12 and a Belgium Sweet Sixteen that I will not sale..
I may have posted this in the wrong place but I really need help.
Thanks. |

May be some of members have experience with some of the auction sites and can give you advice. Sadly I do not, but do frequently look at them, ones I look at the most are Gun Broker and Guns America. |

Well, since your looking for offers.
I'll offer you $600.00 plus shipping for it. |

I'm going to a collectors auction (I'm told) tomorrow. One has already mentioned 1500 but I'm really wanting to do better.
Seriously, you guys are the experts and I'm looking for advice. Any other ideas or input?
Thanks |

FWIW, the 28th ed. Blue Book lists a 100% 16ga Mdl 12 Field w/ no options at $750.00. If someone offered me $1500.00, I'd take it.

Dave Riffle has a NIB 16 gauge Model 12 with a full choke barrel listed on his website for $2595. Of course Riffle's prices are on the high side particularly in this economy.

He has had that gun for a decade. Does he ever sell anything?
Best,

Try a yahoo search for "Perry County Firearms" in Pennsylvania...he has a number of Winchesters, Model 12's and sometimes Model 42's (the Winchester .410 version of the Model 12.) Riffle is high but the guns are clean. One would assume he continues to be interested in clean, especially NIB M-12's for his inventory.
Also, another place you might try to get a bid is Steve Barnett Fine Guns; or Crosnoe guns, Cape Girardeau, Mo. All of these have web sites complete with photos---they often sell Model 12's so must be buying them from somewhere....
You might try keeping that NIB Model 12 16 ga. as few 16's were made better; certainly no finer or more durable 16 ga. slide action gun has ever been made-despite any BS you may hear to the contrary. |

Wonderful. Since you had no clue as to what the price should be, it worked out well. For you. I guess.
Tons of model 12s are for sale. I mean, there must be 100+ in every issue of "Gun Digest". There are no other pump shotguns that sell in the quantities that model 12s do. Month after month, year after year, there are hundreds for sale, everywhere. Lots of them.
There is a message in there, I'm sure. Might be a good subject for a country and western song.
Best,
Ted |
